About this guide
This site is a practical guide to Universal Modder, the open-source toolkit that lets AI coding agents mod PC games you own. It takes you from installation to a first working mod, and from there to packaging and sharing your work.
What you'll find here
- Install guides for six agents: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, VS Code / Copilot and OpenCode, plus an installation overview with requirements and post-install checks.
- A first-mod tutorial: the Universal Modder tutorial walks through a small Terraria weapon with planning prompts, backups and checkpoints.
- Examples: the example projects break down a Terraria arsenal, a new Age of Empires II civilization and Minecraft running inside GTA V.
- Game guides: the game guides cover routes, loaders and save locations for individual games.
- Prompts: the prompt library offers 36 starter prompts for recon, items, units, mashups, assets and debugging.
- CLI reference: the um CLI reference explains every command group with syntax and examples.
- Troubleshooting: the troubleshooting pages fix common installation, authentication and media errors.
The FAQ answers questions about cost, safety and platforms, and the update notes track significant project changes.
Relationship to the project
This is an independent guide; Universal Modder is developed by rehan-remade on GitHub. Project names and examples belong to their respective authors and products.
Keeping the guides current
Universal Modder moves quickly, with new agent integrations, CLI fixes, skills and field notes landing regularly. We update installation commands and guides as the project changes, and summarize the significant changes in the update notes.

Spotted an error or a gap? Use contact and include the page URL, the relevant section and a short explanation. For a toolkit bug, open an issue in the Universal Modder GitHub repository or ask in the project Discord.
